Sound performance for extended electronics
Adrift between (in)organics, electrolysis and astable vibrations, all whirled up in a cacophony of the unexpected, questioning the material boundaries, of electronics.
Elemental encounters is a research based sound performance, originating from a broader concept of extended - fragile and sensitive, "soft" electronic instruments and elemental techniques of playing with them.
In this performance I focus on sounding through liquids - liquids that invite environment, both biotic and abiotic to act upon vitality, whether it’d be temperature, humidity, chemical species, microbial life and it’s residues or even gravity.
The performance is developed around circuits of extended phenotype – water enabled electronics. Due to liquid medium, the material boundaries of these sound instruments no longer end at their epidermis – an enclosure with switches and dials, or a resistor leg. Instead, the liquid intersection invites environment, both biotic and abiotic to act upon their vitality, whether it’d be temperature, humidity, chemical species, microbial life and it’s residues or even gravity. Fragile, vulnerable and exposed yet non-separate they oscillate.
